Mill Policies

Boutique Mill

All orders for custom blends will be processed as soon as possible upon receipt. If you need to modify an order for any reason, please contact us immediately; however, we may not be able to accommodate your changes if we've already started making your products.

We do our best to maintain a stock of fibers that are ready to go right off the shelf, but we may need extra processing time in some cases. If we run into any delays in fulfilling your order, we will reach out with updates.

If you've got a custom request that isn't listed on our site, just let us know what you're looking for so we can prepare a quote for you. We are more than happy to source fiber for you if we haven't got it in stock.

Cottage Mill

Our top priority is getting your fleeces clean and ready to be turned into all the beautiful, wonderful, fluffy, and magical end products we all adore! We are excited to work with you on special projects and custom orders. If you have any questions or concerns at any point, reach out and we will help in any way we can.

We require a 50% deposit for all cottage milling orders and payment of the remaining balance prior to shipping or product pick-up. If you have any special requests please let us know when you place your order, and if we have any questions about your order we will be in touch.

Please ensure all fleeces submitted for processing are well-skirted and generally free of vegetable matter (VM). All scouring services include 15 minutes of skirting; further skirting required will be charged in 15-minute intervals. Skirtings become the property of the studio and will not be returned with the remaining processed fleece.

We do not accept fleeces that have been washed prior to receipt without prior agreement due to the wide array of variables that can impact wool's performance during milling. Tippy, weak, broken, or otherwise poor quality fleeces may be returned without processing at the mill's discretion, but we will discuss any options we believe are reasonable for these fleeces. These may include, but are not limited to, adding blending fiber, changing the intended end product, or hand-processing for an additional fee.

Every fleece will be weighed upon receipt at the mill and any significant differences between the weight in the order and upon receipt will be communicated before processing begins. Fine and high-grease wools will be re-weighed after scouring and drying and processing fees will be calculated based on the clean weight for all further processing.
